Comments about Disgusting Things You Would Rather Not Know About Mummification
Hello Everyone
This is a great website to use in front of the class as an introduction into Mummification. The website walks the students through the steps of mummification interlacing humour, cartoons, and factual information. Three other graphic novel are also linked to the website including the Roman gladiators, whaling, and explorers. Check it out the kids will love you!!

Critiques (visual art interpretation) are great! Sometimes kids have trouble with the concept of it though, setting guidelines prior to the critiques generally help. :)
The I like the idea of images as story starters. What about books as story starters? I used a book without words for an integrated art and language arts lesson. We talked about how a book without words can appeal to everyone after I had shown them a book called "Picturescape" by Elisa Gutierrez. I then had the students create their own stories without words.
I just saw another book without words yesterday that is neat too, "Flotsam" by David Wiesner. (It is a Caldecott recipient.)
